There is no doubt that China is an emerging super power. In 20 years, can you imagine anything you could do for your child that would give them a better edge in the market than Mandarin Immersion? |
Let's face it, language is easiest to learn as a child. Somehow their brains are just waiting to pick up new sounds and remember them. Already dealing with the lack of Mandarin speaking Canadians, the Canadian Government is actually paying some of their staff to learn the language over the next two years. Edmonton has had a thriving Mandarin immersion program for a surprising thirty years. In the last year the Confucious institute has established a resources center putting the support and information we need at our fingertips. If we ask, we are eligible for a Chinese Government Grant that will fill a room with text books and media to assist in the learning and development of Mandarin in the west. They will also connect us with teachers and sister schools. Alberta business groups are already keenly searching for Mandarin speaking Canadians to fill positions in a huge variety of industries, and have also begun developing scholarships to encourage youth to train for the future. Knowing all of this, doesn't Mandarin Immersion just make sense?
